back from the hike. calves are the most sore part of me, followed by shoulders.
carrying a 40 pound backpack on your hips for 11 miles of rough terrain isn't easy. there were times I was ready to just jump down off that mountain.
but we made it. our campsite got turned into a raging river after 3 separate storms slammed us from above. Va's tent got leaked and nearly washed out. mine didn't leak; except for a tiny bit.. but it was in the way of the river that rolled through our campsite.
Had a good night sleep Sat. night though.. which is sometime not easy to do when it is so quiet in the mountains.. every little tiny noise keeps you up with the feeling of "what the fuck was that?"
but the hike out was terrific. we made great time, visited Big Schloss (a huge sandstone rock encroachment with a panoramic view) and decended from 2800 to 2200 feet in less than mile. My feet burned, knees ached.. but it was nice to see my truck sitting there waiting for us.
I took some pics.. probably will upload them to photobucket and post the links here.
I'm taking Tris to school this morning. gotta get moving.
